Melissa: Licensed Acupuncturist & Chinese Medicine Practitioner.jpg

Melissa is a Licensed Acupuncturist and NCCAOM board certified practitioner. She sees acupuncture as a folk medicine for everybody. Melissa believes the roll of the health care practitioner should be education and empowerment during the treatment process. Communication and cooperation between patient and practitioner are essential to healing.

Melissa grew up in the Rust Belt, halfway between Detroit and Chicago in a post-industrial Michigan community that struggled with managing collective trauma, stress, and addiction. She has seen the effects of toxins and trauma on working class communities, first hand. Melissa knows that both environmental justice and affordable natural medicine is essential to creating vibrant and resilient communities. The ecology of our earth, our communities, and our bodies is what inspires her practice. Before deciding to study Chinese Medicine, Melissa's whole world was plants (and fungi). She began the study of natural medicine as a professional gardener and as a certified organic vegetable, herb, and flower farmer. She believes living close to nature and eating real food is our best medicine. She looks forward to working with you to create a healthy and attainable nutrition plan that is best for your body type and it's patterns according to Chinese Medicine.

Melissa does not bill insurance at this time but plans to in the future. Cash, Check, Credit Card, and Venmo are accepted forms of payment. Income based sliding scale payments are available as needed. Melissa believes acupuncture is a folk medicine for everyone and she will do what she can to make it accessible.

Acupuncture: Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can help us find emotional and physiological balance. The body and mind are inseparable and interdependent. No matter what brings you to acupuncture, Melissa will treat it in the context of your unique body and situation. Chinese Medicine treats patterns of imbalance that create dis-ease. It is essential to treat the mind, body, and spirit as a whole.
